$3M Awarded for Project to Help Clean Contaminated Site in Harrison County, MS
An appropriations bill in the U.S. Senate could bring tens of millions of dollars for cargo and infrastructure projects in Mississippi, with several million dollars coming to the Coast. The Harrison County Development Commission (HCDC) said the FY2024 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (T-HUD) Appropriations Bill would award $3 million for a project in Gulfport.

Michigan Expands Building Financing Option for More Affordable Housing
The state of Michigan is expanding the Brownfield Tax Increment Financing (TIF) program in an effort to generate more affordable housing in Michigan. It is no longer limited to brownfields. As enacted, Senate Bills 129, 130, 131, and 132 make it so builders develop affordable housing anywhere in the state as long as it is on non-agricultural land.

EPA Partners With Passamaquoddy Tribe on Brownfields Development Strategies
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point in Maine will receive technical assistance through the Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities program. Together, EPA and the Passamaquoddy Tribe will pursue development strategies that expand upon existing brownfields efforts and advance clean air, clean water, equitable development, and other local goals.

Wayne County, NY Gets $2M in Grants for Brownfield Sites
Wayne County has been awarded $2 million in grants from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to support its efforts in cleaning up and repurposing unused and polluted lands, known as brownfields. This funding is a significant boost to the county's mission to turn these neglected sites into valuable community spaces.
