$5.6M for OR Farm-to-School Funding Passes Key Committee
The bill would provide nearly $4.6 million for grants to help school districts buy foods grown and processed in Oregon and more than $900,000 for food-, garden- and agriculture-based education. Rep. Brian Clem recommended that the program revert to a competitive grant system if approved funding is lower.
OR May Get Its Own Outdoor Recreation Office
Oregon is seeking to create its own outdoor recreation office. Similar to Colorado, Utah and Washington's outdoor departments, proposed legislation in Oregon would give the outdoor community a significantly stronger voice at the state level.
RAIN Eugene and Fertilab Merge to Support Entrepreneurs
Fertilab and RAIN Eugene previously served distinct functions for entrepreneurs in the local area, but the two organizations often interacted because of natural program overlap. Leaders of both organizations say the merger will create new synergies and provide more services under one roof for local entrepreneurs.
Grants Used to Support Economic Development Planning in OR
The Department of Land Conservation and Development was created to oversee the economic development process (as it pertains to land use), and one of its objectives is to provide grant funds to local governments for a variety of planning projects.

At least 116 megawatts of new solar energy development will soon be underway in Oregon, supported by the state's Solar Development Incentive (SDI) program which is overseen by Business Oregon.
