Akron Files Lawsuit to Get Downtown Development Back on Track
The city has gone to court with hopes of spurring redevelopment of vacant properties, some dating to the early 1900s. The city late last month filed a complaint in Summit County Common Pleas Court to get back the deeds of two key parcels it once owned.

OH Tech Startups Receive Millions in Funding
Technology business incubator Rev1 Ventures led Columbus organizations and businesses in winning a grant of more than $13 million from the Ohio Third Frontier Commission. The award was part of the Third Frontier Commission's $67.4 million in funding statewide to help entrepreneurs.

Honda to Invest $53M in Data Center in Ohio
Honda's investment will create two new facilities at their Richmond, OH plant and is expected to create 25 jobs. As a part of the project Honda will receive a roadwork development grant from the Ohio Development Services Agency with an estimated value of $665,000.

ODSA Announces $11.6M in Grants for Urban Infrastructure
The grants will improve streets, sidewalks, bridges, public facilities, and infrastructure as well as rehabilitate buildings in a community's Central Business District. Recipients include Perry County, Morgan County, and the City of Zanesville.

$28.2M Made Available to OH Entrepreneurs
The awards cover three years and require matching dollars from non-state public, private and philanthropic supporters in order to access the state resources, according to the PR Newswire report.

Salem Considers Construction of Children's Museum on Vacant Lots
Conceptual renderings of how the five parcels proposed for how the project could be developed were presented to Salem City Council's Economic Development Committee. The name of the developer has not yet been released.

Beavercreek Mall to Use PACE For $3M Energy Improvements
The proposal calls for the city to create a special energy improvement district on the mall's property that the mall owner Washington Prime Group would repay the PACE program financing through.

Detroit Program Expanding Neighborhood Investment in Rustbelt
A union-led effort that's helping improve homes and create jobs in Detroit is being expanded to other rustbelt cities as part of a $2.1 billion effort to help communities struggling with aging neighborhoods, disinvestment and unemployment.
