MDA Announces Clean Water Fund Projects
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has selected two projects to receive Clean Water Fund research contracts. Thirteen proposals, totaling over $2.8 million in requested funds, were submitted. The two selected projects total $556,703.

Greater MN Housing Fund Launches Impact Investment Fund
The new fund will support efforts to preserve affordable housing in the Twin Cities. According to GMHF, while older Class B and Class C unsubsidized private rental housing serves more U.S. households than subsidized housing, it is at risk of losing its affordability as prices and rents for such properties rise.

Broadband Grants Available in MN
The recent injection of an additional $20 million was included in a jobs and energy finance package that was enacted in May. This is on top of the $45 million in broadband grants that were enacted during the 2015-16 legislative biennium.

$987.9M General Obligation Bonds Will Support Infrastructure Across MN
Sponsored by Rep. Dean Urdahl, HF5, as amended, calls for $987.9 million in general-obligation bonding for public works projects across the state. "It's heavy on infrastructure," Urdahl said. "I think it addresses many of the important needs of the State of Minnesota." Much of the bill is focused on transportation.

Farm Owner Tax Credit Reaches MN Conference Committee
A credit included in the Agriculture Finance and Policy Bill signed into law is the first in the nation to provide financial benefit to farmland owners who sell their land to beginning farmers. The credit would equal 5 percent of the sale price, 10 percent of the cash rent fee or 15 percent of the crop share value.
